The hugely popular HTC Desire has recently seen a couple of upgrades, the HD and QWERTY packing Desire Z. The HTC Desire HD is currently one of the highest spec Smartphones on the market, offering something for everyone.
The handset boasts a huge 4.3 inch screen, so the handset measures 123x 68×11.8 mm. When using it, it feels substantial in your hand, and exudes premium built quality, and looks great. The 4.3 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen utilises a pixel configuration of 480x 800 in order to display up to 16 million bright and vivid individual colours. This makes it able to display high definition videos and photos with ease, and makes a fantastic screen for gaming and surfing the web. The standard accelerometer sensor is included which allows content to be viewed in both portrait and landscape mode depending on the orientation at which the handset is held.
The HTC Desire HD comes with 1.5 GB of on board storage as standard; however there is also an integrated microSD card slot which comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card. This is sure to prove ample for the needs of most users, however should further storage be required, a memory card of up to 32 GB can be installed.
The HTC Desire HD excels at internet browsing. A super fast HSDPA connection allows download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps to be achieved in areas with 3G coverage, whilst an enhanced browsing experience can be attained thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity whenever in the same proximity as wireless internet routers. The full HTML browser can display even the most content rich web sites, and part of the HTC Sense package means the text is automatically repositioned and resized to fit the screen. This means that users do not have to constantly zoom and scroll to read a full block of text. Adobe Flash 10.1 compatibility means that no websites are out of bounds for the HTC Desire HD, providing the ability to view flash content such as videos, and even play online games.
The HTC Desire HD is also an exceptional camera phone. Boasting 8 mega pixels, its built in digital camera operates at 3264x 2448 pixels, and boasts Autofocus, face detection and a dual-LED flash for low lighting conditions. Geo-tagging is also provided thanks to GPS, and allows users to keep track of where they took their photos. The camera also comes with the bonus of the ability to shoot high definition video footage in 720p quality. Thanks to DLNA, users can wirelessly stream their videos to a compatible television, and enjoy their handiwork on the big screen.
The operating system of choice is Android 2.2 (Froyo), and this works in conjunction with the reliable and powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This combination of technologies provides a fantastic user experience. An impressive aspect of the operating-system is the ability to download additional applications from the Android Market. When users choose to utilise this feature, the sky’s the limit in terms of functionality and entertainment, with ample computing power under the hood to handle demanding applications with ease.
The HTC Desire HD is a true all rounder, and excels at any task you throw at it. Whilst this is the case, it does not sacrifice any of the qualities that make it a premium Smartphone, and deserves a spot at the top of everyone’s smart phone wish list.
